McCormick Place, Chicago

About Chicago

Nicknamed “The Second City,” Chicago offers a first-rate array of attractions to visitors and residents alike. Here you’ll be treated to some of the country’s best culture, cuisine, entertainment and leisure options.

McCormick Place, where the International Conference on Alzheimer's Disease will be held, is at the heart of it all. A short walk, cab ride or bus trip will take you to dozens of the city’s most popular and best-loved sites.

Navy Pier, one of the city’s premier tourist attractions, boasts eateries, shops and entertainment for visitors of all ages. The city’s Museum Campus houses three world-class institutions – the Field Museum of Natural History, the Adler Planetarium and the John G. Shedd Aquarium. And, if you’re in the mood for some shopping, Chicago’s famous Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue is home to hundreds of retailers.

The Sears Tower – once proud holder of the “world’s tallest building” title – is visible from most areas of the city, and is still the highest skyscraper in the United States. For a true birds’-eye view, visit the building’s Skydeck, which towers almost 1,400 feet high on the 103rd floor of the building.

You’re never far from a way to enjoy the great outdoors, even in the middle of the city. Located on the shore of Lake Michigan, Chicago has miles of beaches for visitors to enjoy. And, if the water isn’t a draw, the city has hundreds of public parks – two of the largest being Grant Park and Millennium Park, both just around the corner from the conference.

And, to finish your day off, don’t miss out on sampling the local flavor: Pick up a world-famous Chicago style hot dog or a slice of deep-dish pizza.
