Family caregiver series

Know the 10 signs: The warning signs of Alzheimer's disease are often dismissed as side effects of normal aging. This one hour presentation teaches the importance of early detection and the 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's disease.

The Basics of Alzheimer's disease: A one hour presentation which teaches how the brain works and how Alzheimer's disease affects it. It goes into detail on how the disease progresses, the importance of an early diagnosis and what is currently available for the affected person.

Conversations about Dementia: This workshop will offer tips on how to have honest and caring conversations with family members on matters such as: going to the doctor, deciding when to stop driving and making legal and financial plans.

Alzheimer's Workplace Alliance

The Alzheimer's Workplace Alliance (AWA) is a group of nearly 2,000 leading companies and organizations that have stepped up as leaders in the fight against Alzheimer's disease. As AWA Corporate Champions, they support their employees, customers, members and other stakeholders with resources, tools an information on Alzheimer's disease, the nation's sixth-leading cause of death.

The AWA provides companies and organizations with complimentary resources for their employees who are caring for a person with Alzheimer's disease or another dementia.

Save the Date for our Annual Dementia Care Conference!

The 2015 Dementia Care Conference is a two day event this year, taking place on Thursday, March 26th and Friday, March 27th. Participants will be traveling from across the state of Nebraska and Southwest Iowa for this great opportunity. Healthcare professionals, students, family caregivers and the interested general public are invited.

The first day of the conference will be catered toward health professionals and direct care staff, and will underline important care practices and techniques to enhance the life of a person living with dementia. This half day event will feature three modules of the Alzheimer's Associations direct care training programs. Light snacks and beverages will be provided in the afternoon.

The second day fo the conference will welcome health care professionals of all levels, facily care givers, and individuals involved in dementia education and patient care, and will be focusing on innovative research, new models of care, important safety measures, and much more. Presenters are being determined at this time. A keynote and lunch session will be offered, as well as three break-out sessions. This full day event will serve breakfast, lunch and snack/beverage breaks. conference sponsors and vendors will be available to answer questions for the conference participants.
