An internship at the Alzheimer's Association provides students with real-world experience working at a not-for-profit organization and the opportunity to learn and contribute to the Association's vision of a world without Alzheimer's disease. In our internship program, students become a part of a departmental team that works with other areas within our organization. As a result, they get exposed to a variety of career tracks such as:
- Fundraising
- Program and services development
- Public relation
- Communications
- Graphic design
This program does not offer laboratory or practical medical experience, or relocation or housing allowance.
Our internship program is designed to:
- Attract and introduce a diverse group of students to the world of not-for-profit work.
- Provide the Association with the enthusiasm, energy, and idealism that students bring to their work.
- Educate, mentor, and prepare students for potential employment with the Alzheimer's Association.
Criteria for internship
Student must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university (an official college transcript will be required). They must also have:
- Class standing of at least a sophomore level
- A cumulative GPA 2.7 or better
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Internship sessions
The Alzheimer's Association's internship sessions run:
- Summer (June - Aug)
- Fall (Sept. - Dec.)
- Spring (Jan - May).
Interns will work no more than 24 hours per week.
Salary
Interns may receive a stipend up to $2,500 for paid internships.
How to apply
Students applying for an internship at the Alzheimer's Association must submit a resume and a cover letter (one page maximum) by the posted deadline for initial consideration.
If no internships are available, please check back prior to the beginning of a session. Once preselected, a completed internship application and an official school transcript verifying current GPA will be required. If requested, students must also submit copies of their work such as writing samples and two letters of faculty recommendations.
