Local author Weldon Payne's latest two-act drama is presented jointly by South Jackson Civic Center, The Community Playhouse, and the Millennium Rep for the benefit of the Alzheimer's Association.  Beyond the Rain depicts Edna King, a lonely spinster nearing forty, striving to care for her mother who is fast falling prey to what we now know as Alzheimer's disease.  As her mother's deterioration worsens, Edna faces the truth that her real love for "mama" requires making difficult decisions and admitting that she needs the help of others.  Performances are scheduled for Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the South Jackson Civic Center - 404 S.
