Get the emotional support you need

We have many support groups, at various times and locations. Check to see if there is a group close to you that fits your needs.  Choose either Arkansas or Oklahoma Support Groups on the left.

If you prefer, call our 24-hour Helpline — 1.800.272.3900.

Respite Care Volunteers

The Alzheimer’s Association recruits and trains respite volunteers. After completing training, each volunteer is carefully matched with a Caregiving family.  The volunteer spends 2-4 hours with the person with Alzheimer’s or related dementia each week, while the caregiver takes a break. Caregivers tell us it means the world to them to know that someone cares enough to help. Respite volunteers tell us this is one of the most meaningful things they’ve ever done.

If you are interested in learning more about becoming a respite volunteer, please call -- 1.800.272.3900.

Connect with others online

The Alzheimer’s Association message boards and chat rooms provide a virtual online community for persons with Alzheimer's, caregivers and care providers. Our message boards have thousands of registered members from around the United States and thousands more who refer to the stories and information that is available 24 hours a day.

Caregiver Support Links

Here is a new, free resource for family caregivers! Through a grant from the Retirement Research Foundation, Terra Nova Films has developed a new website, www.videocaregiving.org that carries video-streamed segments of several videos that deal with many of the sensitive and challenging issues involved in family caregiving.

New Alzheimer's DVD an excellent resource.
