Farmers Life Insurance – giving back to those we serve!

Farmers Life Insurance is part of Farmers Group Inc., which is owned by Zurich Financial Services.  While our core giving programs are aligned broadly with our corporate causes, we also strive to make a presence in our local community, and the communities we serve.

Farmers Life Insurance created a giving charter two years ago, which helps us to focus donations on charities that are working to improve the quality of life relating to health and wellness.  We are also building a strategy to involve our employees, and align volunteer opportunities with these same select causes that fall within our giving charter.

The employees of Farmers Life Insurance will continue to put time, efforts, and support towards March of Dimes, United Way, and the local causes that can make the greatest impact to the lives and well-being of everyone we serve.

We are very pleased to support the Alzheimer’s Association of Western & Central Washington as one of our primary interests in giving for 2011 and 2012, and look forward to seeing you at future events.

ProteoTech, Inc. ProteoTech, Inc.
http://www.proteotech.com/

ProteoTech, Inc. (Kirkland, WA) is a drug research and development company that utilizes proteoglycan and amyloid technologies to discover and develop new disease-modifying therapeutics for human amyloid diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease.

As the number of individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s disease continues toward epidemic proportions world-wide, the financial and emotional cost of such a devastating disease is significant and growing larger every year. The impact this will have on the individual and their family's quality of life is real and ever-growing. ProteoTech is dedicated to improving the health of those individuals suffering from this dreaded disease through scientific research as well as community involvement through organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association of Western & Central Washington.

ProteoTech’s corporate culture encourages the sharing and giving of oneself for the benefit of others. In the past, ProteoTech team members have participated in and raised funds for the annual Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk. And this year, ProteoTech was very pleased to be a platinum sponsor of the 7th Annual Tasteful Evening Chef & Wine Dinner. Several of ProteoTech’s team members have firsthand knowledge of caring for family members with Alzheimer’s disease and have benefited from crucial support in their hour of need. These personal experiences and a desire to give back to the community have also motivated ProteoTech team members and their families to volunteer for the Association’s Speaker Bureau and as committee members for the Tasteful Evening event.

ProteoTech has chosen to work with the Alzheimer’s Association of Western & Central Washington due to the association’s leading role in supporting family members of the affected community. For ProteoTech, it is a privilege to volunteer for and be associated with the fine efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association of Western & Central Washington.

Aegis Logo

Aegis Living
http://www.aegisliving.com/

At Aegis Living giving back to others reflects our commitment to our employees, residents and community at large.  We dedicate time and financial resources to make their lives better.

Winterfest The corporate office at Aegis Living resembles a department store when during the course of a day staff visit and "shop" for items donated and purchased by the company for them. Hundreds of Aegis Living employees are provided with free clothing, toys and new shoes during the holiday season when the need seems so strong.

Winterfest LogoPotato Soup Foundation Dwayne Clark and Aegis Living established the Potato Soup Foundation with the principle purpose to help Aegis Staff and their families in extreme times of need. The foundation has helped people with emergency medical treatment, emergency housing, funeral expenses and variety of other crisis situations. We believe in supporting our employees and families as much as possible especially in their time of need.

Senior Services in King County LogoSenior Services in King County Providing information and assistance to seniors, delivering Meals on Wheels to those in need and overseeing many Senior Centers in King County are a few of the reasons we are involved with Senior Services. Our employees have served on the Board of Directors, helped with fundraising and volunteered at local Senior Centers.

FareStart LogoFareStart The old saying, "Give a man fish, he eats for a day; but teach a man to fish and he eats forever," has always resonated with our company. We understand that there are many good people who are only a paycheck away from being homeless and we are dedicated to helping. FareStart is a job training and placement program for homeless and disadvantaged individuals. Over the past 19 years, FareStart has provided opportunities for over 2,000 people to transform their lives.

Rainier Scholars LogoRainier Scholars We have found Rainier Scholars to be an incredible opportunity to send young, bright, promising inner city kids to an educationally rich environment. As a young person Dwayne Clark, Founder and CEO of Aegis Living, had very little means, but was fortunate to have been afforded a private school scholarship through his family's church. That education turned his life around and led him to believe in himself and the things that he could accomplish. We are extremely honored to serve on their board and grow great leaders for our future.

Aegis Living employees participate in Memory WalkAlzheimer's Association Our involvement with the Alzheimer’s Association over the span of 20 years has been invaluable. The astounding number of individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease will touch all of us at one point in our lives.  The vital work of the association can make the difference now and in the future.  Aegis Living continues to value this relationship and participate in their mission when and where possible.

These are just a few examples of the way Aegis Living strives to give back to our employees, residents and families each and every day.

Design Laboratory, Inc.  http://www.dli.com/

“The world in which we live has so many needs, and in an attempt to make a small footprint, Design Laboratory has made an effort to give back to the community.  While our efforts are minor in comparison to the overall need, we believe that by giving a few hours of our time, we have the ability to affect the lives of hundreds.

Over the course of the year, we partnered with Vision House of Renton on several occasions. The housing facilities of Vision House require routine maintenance, and as one of our projects, we assisted with landscaping efforts of one of their Renton complexes.  We also helped with their annual garage sale, which is said to be the largest garage sale in Renton. In June, we partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help build four new homes for deserving families at their Issaquah location. We have also partnered with Food LifeLine, a local hunger relief organization who serves Western Washington by using 96% of revenue to directly feed hungry people.

Not only do we give our time, we also provide financial donations. Design Laboratory was a sponsor of the Microsoft Alumni Foundation Celebration.  With the sponsorship, we were able to highlight Vision House as our chosen non-profit organization, which in turn provided a donation to the organization.

Our in-house production studio, Lab51 Media, has also used their skills and services to help in our giving efforts. The studio created a video trailer for the annual Microsoft Giving Auction, and has also provided substantially discounted video services to several other non-profit organizations in the Puget Sound region – including the Alzheimer’s Association Western & Central Washington State Chapter.”
