Events Coordinator

General Summary

The Events Coordinator is responsible for the performance and success of certain events across the state of Mississippi in order to meet revenue awareness and participant goals. This person will mobilize and manage volunteers and execute multiple walks according to our timeline and best practices.

Essential Job Functions

• Execute overall plan for Walk to End Alzheimer's in the territories as assigned to include team captain/walker recruitment and retention; sponsor cultivation and solicitation; promotion and marketing activities; and all event logistics.
• Execute overall plan for other events as assigned; sponsor cultivation and solicitation; promotion and marketing activities; and all event logistics.
• Prepare and distribute communications to volunteers and donors - via email, print and telephone - coordinating with the National Association's communications timeline and additional needs.
• Recruit, develop and manage volunteers to plan and implement the walks and other events as assigned.
• Meet and communicate regularly with the Executive Director and other staff to share updates, assess progress and coordinate centralized tasks.
• Prepare reports and provide information as requested and required; oversee project budgets and maintain financial records for events.
• Provide support to overall operations of events as assigned including the specified Walk locations to include: customer service to constituents; database mining and management; donor/sponsor/advocate relations and communications; management of vendor relations; etc.

Minimum Requirements

• BA or BS degree or business/sales or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience, including proven success in sales/fundraising. 
• Excellent proven interpersonal and leadership skills. 
• Ability to train, manage, guide, motivate colleagues and volunteers to achieve objectives. • Ability to plan and work independently. 
• Superior organizational and communication skills. 
• Excellent computer skills. 
• Working as a member of a team, the Event Coordinator is an enthusiastic, organized, self-motivated person who will oversee all aspects of events as assigned from start to finish.  
• This person must be able to recruit, manage and partner directly with volunteers and colleagues to meet aggressive participant and sponsorship recruitment and fundraising goals. 
• Candidate must be able to exercise excellent judgment, accept responsibility, and give careful attention to details. 
• Must be skilled in multiple software programs and be willing to learn and excel in donor software systems.
• Excellent oral and written communications with the ability to present with poise, confidence and professionalism to diverse committees.
• Be able to work under stress and be flexible where there are high expectations for meeting tight deadlines and for producing work that is accurate.
• Willingness to "pitch in" to get the job done when required.  
• Must develop working knowledge about Alzheimer's disease and its impact on families and caregivers. 
• Must be a team player.
• Some night and weekend travel required.
