Education Specialist

General Summary

The purpose of the Education Specialist role is to educate both family and professional caregivers on Alzheimer's disease and its impacts.

Essential Job Functions

1. Presents both family and professional care giving programs within assigned geographical areas the Chapter serves.
2. Responsible for training new support group leaders semi-annually and existing leaders annually.
3. Assures that Association support group leader standards are maintained.
4. Researches and submits grants of $10,000 or more to support Chapter programs.
5. Coordinates Train Your Brain Programs within assigned geographical areas the Chapter serves.
6. Provides "backup" support for "Slices of the Pie" as needed.
7. Reaches out to physicians with "Prescription for Care."
8. Provides backup for Helpline, information and referrals and care consultations and Medic-Alert/Safe Return.
9. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent work experience in human service, gerontology, social work or a related field.
• Minimum one year work experience working with Alzheimer's or other chronic illnesses preferred.
• Experience in public speaking/presenting curriculums.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Experience presenting curriculums
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and Power Point.
