The Development Coordinator works with the Development Manager, Association staff and the Walk to End Alzheimer's Planning Committee to champion the Association's mission and enhance the culture of diversity, advocacy and fund development. The Development Coordinator is responsible for working with the Development Manager on all aspects of the Walk to End Alzheimer's events and is responsible for all logistics, planning and implementation of the event itself. The Development Coordinator will also work with the Development staff on cultivating relationships to secure corporate funding and build a donor, participant and volunteer base that achieve revenue goals and enhances public awareness.
The Development Coordinator will manage all aspects of logistics for the Walk including securing a location, working with volunteer committees, and marketing the Walk to End Alzheimer's events in multiple communities. The Development Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Development Manager in leading the fundraising effort towards achieving the walk revenue goals. The Development Coordinator will be responsible for raising local awareness of the Walk to End Alzheimer's through engagement in networking events, speaking opportunities, and community events. The Development Coordinator will build relationships in the community with the goal of growing revenue and participation at the Walk and other Chapter Special Events.
This position will also assist with the Reason to Hope event, as well as the execution of the event plan. The Development Coordinator will assist the Development staff in achieving all budgeted event goals, successful execution of the fundraising plan for all special events, and increase awareness for our mission.
Essential Job Functions
Walk to End Alzheimer's:
â€¢ Work collaboratively with the committee in planning and implementation of the Walk. Including assisting with monthly committee meetings.
â€¢ Assist Development staff in all areas of the fundraising and marketing plan that secures Walk Corporate Sponsorship, Team and Walker revenue.
â€¢ Ensures smooth integration of the National Association and Chapter best practices, standards and guidelines
â€¢ Recruit and coordinate Walk volunteers' participation, pre-walk volunteer management and day of event volunteer management.
â€¢ Coordinate and oversee marketing efforts for Walk in collaboration with Development Staff (content for newsletter, brochures, website and participant mailings, fielding calls and inquiries from Media)
â€¢ Schedule and organize outreach activities that promote the Alzheimer's Association mission and services, including community presentations and corporate engagement opportunities
â€¢ Responsible for all collateral material, ordering supplies, data entry, and email distribution
â€¢ Cultivate and steward relationships with all walk related constituents.
â€¢ Create and distribute event press releases
â€¢ Inventory Control - Manage all supplies, prepare, pack and oversee loading of supplies for all special events.
â€¢ Post Walk follow up and thank you mailings and communication.
â€¢ Oversee recruitment and follow up pre/post calls to all Walkers.
â€¢ Execute communication plan throughout Walk season.
Special Events and Other Development Activities
â€¢ Identification, recruitment and cultivation of Table Hosts for Reason to Hope Events:
o Assist Development staff in identifying and recruiting prospective guests and Table Hosts for the events
o Manage all correspondence, logistics, event planning and cultivate working relationship with Table Hosts
o Coordinate the thank you calls and follow up to all event donors
â€¢ Planning Point-Of-Entry, Kick-off and Ask Event :
o Coordinate logistics of Point of Entry and Kick-off event
o Coordinate logistics for Reason to Hope ask-event, including but not limited to seating and table arrangements, food and beverage, name tags and check in
o Create, coordinate and assemble the table host information and packets
â€¢ Third Party Event, Forget-Me-Not Days, Donor Cultivation Events:
o Market and coordinate community events to increase third party event revenue
o Assist Development staff and volunteers with logistics for Forget-Me-Not fundraising events
o Support Development staff on all Donor Cultivation events and activities
â€¢ 1-2 Years work experience in development, special events or similar field with proven results and track record with positive outcomes desired.
â€¢ Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
â€¢ Experience with online fundraising software preferred. Convio, Blackbaud etc.
â€¢ Experience with event production and management, volunteer development and management, public relations, and corporate sponsor cultivation and relations
â€¢ Knowledge of various mailing procedures and distribution of large amounts of materials
â€¢ Ability to work with vendors such as graphic artists, printers, merchandise businesses, caterers and event management companies.
â€¢ Familiarity with legal issues such as insurance, permits, waivers, etc.
â€¢ Ability to manage large numbers of volunteers at different levels of expertise with diplomacy
â€¢ Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion
â€¢ Ability to understand and work with budgets
â€¢ Ability to travel occasionally throughout the Chapter Area with some overnight and weekend travel required.
â€¢ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
â€¢ Excellent organizational skills; professional customer service skills with visitors, callers and volunteers
