General Summary

This position is responsible for writing and editing assignments that reach target audiences and support the organization's national brand. Assignments will vary and include writing for key initiatives, programs, marketing materials, Web content, direct marketing, special events, conferences, features, blogs and fundraising. This position is critical to defining the Association's mission to various target audiences and serves a strategic role in ensuring consistency in Association messaging.

Essential Job Functions

  • Contribute as a member of a creative team that develops mission-focused content for the general public and key constituents, including individuals with Alzheimer's, family caregivers, physicians and direct care providers, and researchers and donors.
  • Participate in creative meetings; manage cross-departmental projects from inception through finished product.
  • Meet one-on-one and in groups with colleagues to brainstorm; gather information; present ideas; and follow through on specific assignments.
  • Be a productive, fully proficient and creative writer (follow in-house and AP style), creating crisp, concise and engaging copy.
  • Model, support and implement the Alzheimer's Association brand, maintaining integrity and consistency throughout all communications.
  • Edit and proofread others' copy following and modeling AP Stylebook and in-house style guide.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, health communications, marketing or related discipline
  • 2-3 years' experience in agency; VHO or health care; corporate communication or other in-house creative department; marketing communications agency
  • Provide a portfolio of work: published articles in organizational newsletters, emails, web site copy, marketing materials, etc.
