Develop, implement and manage a comprehensive and effective communications, media relations and marketing program that is aligned with the Strategic Plan. Responsible for raising public concern and awareness about Alzheimer's disease and increasing visibility of the Alzheimer's Association to increase use of Association services, funding opportunities, volunteerism, engagement in special events and advocacy, and position the Association as the leading resource on Alzheimer's disease throughout Colorado.
Essential Job Functions
-Develop an integrated, comprehensive marketing/communications/outreach plan designed to significantly increase awareness of the Alzheimer's Association Colorado Chapter and motivate targeted key audiences to use programs and services, attend special events, provide financial resources, volunteer and become advocates.
-Develop professional relationships with key media and public affairs representatives to position the Alzheimer's Association as the source for research, public policy and human interest stories.
-Promote all common program initiatives, an dchapter programs and services on an ongoing basis. Develop marketing campaigns for special local and national initiatives, Early Stage Forum and the Annual Symposium.
-Participate on Public Policy Committee and support legislative initiatives with media outreach.
-Develop marketing and promotional campaigns for major special events such as Walk to End Alzheimer's, Memories in the Making, Annual Luncheon and The Longest Day. Edit materials for image and messaging as well as monitor branding.
-Create scripts, signage and other materials to align messaging and support branding at special events.
-Develop and maintain media contact database for delivering accurate, timely media releases.
-Track media coverage.
-Maintain event and program information on Web site. Focus content on programs and services, secondarily events and fundraising activities. Oversee chapter Web site for presentation, design, content, timeliness and accuracy.
-Manage Online Communications Coordinator position overseeing priorities, workload and deadlines.
-Oversee social media outreach, messaging, content, and graphics. Develop and further presence for Chapter.
-Edit and coordinate production of bi-monthly enewsletter.
-Support national initiatives with local media coverage and promotional activities e.g. AAIC, ABAM, TLD, Facts and Figures release.
-Serve on national advisory committees as needed to develop awareness campaigns for new programs and services as well as events e.g. NADAM.
-Develop, edit and coordinate production of special publications such as the Annual Report, AAIC summary, Strategic Plan Updates and other publications/brochures as required.
-Collaborate with outreach programs of the Colorado Chapter to reach diverse communities and promote services and programs.
-Provide counsel for President and Management Team on issues related to public policy statements and positions, external communications, topical issues in the news and decisions related to response, and crisis communications.
-Create and provide staff leadership to Communications Committee of the Board of Directors.
-Develop media training for Board and staff leadership as appropriate.
-Support promotional activities of YPAAC as needed for special events and membership. Advise and provide counsel to public relations representatives and Board.
-Assure chapter compliance with national Alzheimer's Association standards in Marketing and Communications.
-Oversee Public Relations/Communications intern.
-Other duties as requested by President & CEO.
-5 years experience in marketing, communications, public relations.
-Bachelor's degree in communications or related field.
-Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
-Proven track record in securing media placements.
-Excellent planning and strategy development, well organized, able to respond to deadlines, crises and unexpected opportunities.
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Social Media platforms.
