The Opportunity
This fall the Alzheimer's Association (Lincoln, NE office) is seeking to hire intern candidate for the opportunity to learn, experience, work and contribute to the Association's mission of creating a world without Alzheimer's disease.

This is a part time, unpaid internship. Candidate must be able to complete the internship in exchange for school credit.

Essential Job Functions

  • Initiate, research and write press releases, and disseminate to print and broadcast media.
  • Initiate, research and write newspaper and newsletter articles.
  • Compose talking points for presentations and interviews.
  •  Keep all contact lists up to date.
  • Initiate updates to chapter website.
  • Initiate updates to chapter Facebook and Twitter accounts.
  • Design print pieces and marketing materials for use in fundraising activities.
  • Develop awareness campaign including communications plan for World Alzheimer's Month and Alzheimer's Action Day.
  • Work with Midlands Chapter Representative to organize town hall meetings in Nebraska, help to develop panel for and use metrics to measure impact.
  • Attend and assist at and insure media coverage of chapter events, measure impact through media impressions reporting.
  • Assist staff in other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience with writing for media.
  • Ability to cold call contacts and establish relationships.
  • Proficiency with internet and Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Student must be actively enrolled as a junior or senior in an accredited college or university in the fields of marketing, public relations, journalism, and/or nonprofit management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must enjoy working as part of a team and be a self-starter eager to contribute individual results.
  • Must be highly motivated, well organized with excellent interpersonal skills.
