The Alzheimer's Association National Office is looking for a dynamic, experienced professional to provide accounting and finance support to National Chapters.

Essential Job Functions

  • Understand, support and train National Chapters on accounting, government grant, processing gifts, cash handling, etc. questions
  • Assist National Chapters with annual budget process
  • Update National Chapter Procedures
  • Work closely with the Donor Services department and be the liason between their operations and the National Chapters
  • Assist with preparations of monthly financial statements
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Not-for-profit experience with large VHA
  • Knowledge of non-for-profit acounting theory and practical applications
  • Experience with supervision of accounting function and staff
  • Experience with data entry and nagivating within a fundraising donor database and processing of gifts
  • Full cycle accounting experience in an automated systems environment such as MAS 500, Oracle, Peoplesoft, etc.
  • Superior communications skills-verbal and written
  • Leadership & organizational skills
  • Ability to speak in public to groups both large and small
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions
  • Ability to lead, coach, and direct staff
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle stress

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred
  • 5 years accounting or financial management experience in a large not-for-profit environment, preferably similar experiencve with National and chapters leadership
  • Budgeting experience with large not-for-profit - National and Chapters
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Proficiency with automated accounting systems such as MAS 500, Oracle, Peoplesoft, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially spreadsheets
  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required at peak times.  Must have the ability to travel as needed.
