Program Specialist (Lincoln, NE)

General Summary

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position delivers community education, facilitates support services, assists with advocacy efforts and responds to the needs that are identified through the Helpline.
The position is based in Lincoln, NE and may require occasional intra-state travel.

Essential Job Functions

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Deliver general education programs to families as well as professional caregivers (including scheduling, organizing, managing and evaluation) in Lincoln and surrounding counties.     
- Establish key partnerships in Southeast Nebraska service area (Lincoln, Beatrice, Seward, York and surrounding communities) for education programs and service delivery as needed.        
- Provide training and oversight for program volunteers, Support Groups and Speakers Bureau volunteers.        
- Assist with physician outreach in service area.         
- Assist with Advocacy recruitment and activities.    
- Oversee NADAM/WAM/AAD activities- Capitol lighting, media blitzes, work with media specialist to create and disseminate releases.
- Organize and Coordinate annual Volunteer Luncheon with assist from staff team.    
- Oversee CSQEI surveys per national schedule.     
- Bundle and forward completed service area surveys to National.     
- Oversee and update education calendar in print and on line version for website.   
- Provide Contact Center and Helpline back-up and support as needed.   
- Provide monthly data and statistical reports to Associate Director of Programs.    
- Assist with plan to engage early-stage constituents into programs, groups and activities.    
- Participate and support corporate initiative programs.    
- Other program duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

MINIUMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor's degree in health care management, social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, gerontology or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- 1-3 years experience implementing and delivering community programs.
- 1-3 years experience working in Alzheimer's or dementia field preferred.
- Experience recruiting and training volunteers.
