Director, Development: Intermediate & Planned Giving

General Summary

The Alzheimer's Association, California Southland Chapter, seeks a driven, skilled professional to deepen and grow Intermediate Donor  ($1,000 - $9,999) and Planned Giving programs. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Utilize fundraising strategies to expand Intermediate Donor and Planned Giving programs
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with a portfolio of 125-150 former, current, and prospective Intermediate Donors ($1,000 to $9,999)  and work collaboratively with Major Gifts team to institute Move Management  strategies when and where appropriate
  • In collaboration with VP, Development, work effectively with the Chapter's CEO,  Board of Directors, individual donors, Major Giving Officers, and Chapter staff  to coordinate fundraising priorities and ask strategies for individual  prospects
  • Oversee all aspects of annual fundraising event (A Reason to Hope) including, but not  limited to, recruitment of event chairs, table hosts, speakers, logistics, and  providing support to volunteers
  • Execute an annual year-end campaign to Chapter's most generous donors and prospective  donors
  • Work with VP, Development, to provide support for specialized Board of Director-produced  events and campaigns
  • Promote Planned Giving program to donors and prospective donors, increasing membership  in Founders Society (an honorary society recognizing those who make a bequest  or lifetime gift)
  • Prepare written materials including visit strategies/briefings, correspondence,  solicitations/proposals, and pledge documents
  • Identify and qualify industry leaders/executives for cultivation and solicitation by  senior management or the Board of Directors
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on progress and outcomes against identified goals
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets, revenue and expenses
  • Represent the Chapter at public events, networking events, conferences, and workshops
  • Assure compliance with all Association policies, procedures, standards, and applicable  regulatory requirements; promote Association-wide programs and initiatives

Minimum Requirements

  • Five years' experience in nonprofit fundraising
  • Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising – able to participate in all aspects of the gift cycle: (1) initiate contacts with potential donors; (2) develop appropriate cultivation strategies; (3) move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure; (4) make solicitations when appropriate; (5) maintain stewardship contacts with donors
  • Proven track record in moves management and securing four and five figure donations
  • Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Successful experience working with volunteers in fundraising activities
  • Experience developing and monitoring budgets
  • Experience using fundraising or other database software
  • High level of integrity, diplomacy and initiative
  • California driver license, proof of auto insurance, reliable transportation
  • Successful background screening
