Associate Director, Prospect Research

General Summary

The National Office of the Alzheimer's Association seeks a committed prospect researcher with 5+ years experience to join our three-member prospect research team. This prospect research unit plays an important role within a 25-member national major and planned giving department (aka relationship development department), all of whom are focused on raising and stewarding more than $55 million annually for the Association.

This position will provide proactive and reactive research reports on major gift donors and prospects to help build pipeline, advance and deepen relationships, and guide thoughtful inspiring gift solicitations. The position will work most closely with fundraisers located in the eastern United States.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a growing, multifaceted organization that is striving to expand its pool of five, six and seven figure donor base to include transformative giving at the eight figure level.  This position reports to the east region director with active involvement from the national senior director.

This position is home-office based at any city in the U.S.    

Essential Job Functions

  • Conduct reactive and proactive prospect and donor research, analyze and prepare various levels of donor and prospect research reports including but not limited to research bios, briefs, and comprehensive profiles.  Includes wealth screening analysis and validation.
  • Through use of various databases and public sources, generate proactive prospect leads in support of building and developing a strong donor pipeline.
  • Assist and provide input in ranking donors/prospects and adding value to a teams' relationship building strategies. Help to determine spheres of influence, connections, affiliations, etc. for key donor relationships.
  • Collaborate with other prospect researchers, contribute to the implementation of prospect research projects aimed at having both a regional and national impact in growing revenues. 

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in prospect research field.
  • Knowledge of prospect research industry standards and best practices.
  • Must be analytical, detailed, strategic thinker, collaborative, customer-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a diverse, chapter network with regionally-placed staff. Holistic understanding of fundraising.
  • Experience with Target Analytics-Research Point and Team Approach databases; and other subscription databases; and wealth screenings.
  • Ability to manage a dynamic work load.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.  Advanced degree a plus.
