The Alzheimer's Association is the voluntary health agency dedicated to eliminating Alzheimer's disease and related disorders through the advancement of research and to enhancing care and support services for all affected.  The Association's Hudson Valley/Rockland/Westchester, NY Chapter has an opportunity for an Outreach Specialist to help us reach our strategic goals.  This team member serves as a key staff person in fostering diversity and inclusion and marketing Alzheimer's Association services and events to a broad range of audiences.   This position will report to the Director of the Westchester/Putnam Regional Office.

This position based in the Alzheimer's Association's Westchester Regional Office, in Purchase, NY.

Essential Job Functions

  • Markets the services of the Alzheimer's Association through community outreach, talks to community groups, and distribution of Alzheimer's Association literature and printed materials.
  • Serves as member of Chapter Marketing Team.
  • Develops networks within diverse communities to assist the Chapter in reaching community leaders, families, and health and social service professionals, and raising awareness and funds.
  • Assists the Chapter's Diversity and Inclusion Committee by providing guidance in reaching underserved populations.
  • Coordinates and/or provides support for fundraising/awareness events.
  • Supports the work of the Chapter with phone/Helpline coverage, data entry/gift processing (especially during key periods), the posting of programs and events on community calendars, provision of content for weekly E-news articles (as appropriate), e-blasts, and general office support.
  • Ensures compliance with standards of the Alzheimer's Association.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Other: This is a full-time, salaried position based in the Alzheimer's Association's Westchester Regional Office, in Purchase, NY.  It comes with a full range of benefits, including great colleagues and a happy and busy working environment. Working hours are normally 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., though hours may vary occasionally according to program and service needs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with databases such as Convio and Raiser's Edge a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish highly desirable.
  • Extremely flexible, highly motivated, and able to work under pressure.
  • Interest in aging issues and related service provision.
  • Ability to multitask; strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner.
  • High level of integrity, diplomacy, and initiative.
  • Ability to work effectively with Alzheimer's Association staff and volunteers.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel as needed to perform job duties (a car and valid New York State driver's license are required).
