Communications and Outreach Coordinator

General Summary

The communications and outreach coordinator will set and support the strategy for all communications, website, social media and collateral to consistently articulate the Association and Chapter's mission. Additionally, the communications and outreach coordinator will have responsibility for the design, implementation, management and coordination of all volunteer needs within the chapter.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, implement and evaluate an annual communications plan and budget.
  • Develop and implement an annual press strategy which includes the writing and submission of all press releases pertinent to chapter and national initiatives.
  • Develop strong positive relationships with media professionals, agencies, partners and the general public.
  • Manage the development, distribution and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to e-newsletters, bi-annual chapter newsletter, the chapter's website, flyers, banners, and other special event materials.
  • Develop and maintain chapter social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn to engage audiences in local and national initiatives.
  • Implement and communicate all Alzheimer's Association brand standards and initiatives.
  • Elevate brand and cause awareness through various media channels.
  • Organizes, coordinates, and manages the recruitment and training of volunteers for various committees and association programs.
  • Works with social, civic, schools and universities to develop partnerships to source new volunteers.
  • Maintains updated records of all volunteers.
  • Develops and implements a volunteer recognition program where appropriate.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for all volunteers in answering questions, disseminating information and providing support.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or closely related field.
  • 3-5 years' work experience in a non-profit preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • High degree of creativity and experience designing collateral materials.
  • Ability to travel throughout the 17 county chapter territory as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher.
  • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communications skills.
  • High energy, maturity and leadership.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
