Director of Constituent Events

General Summary

The Alzheimer's Association Georgia Chapter is seeking a dynamic, focused individual for their Director of Constituent Events position.

This position will direct & grow events in an established geographic area of approx. 100-200 mile radius.  Event locations currently include Atlanta, Dalton, Columbus, Augusta, Macon, Tifton and Savannah.

Essential Job Functions

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

I. Responsible for Implementation and Outcomes of Constituent Events:

  • Direct responsibility for all aspects of event management and budgeted outcomes of community based constituent events within assigned territory.   Events currently configured as Walk to End Alzheimer's events in the fall, and Longest Day community fundraising in June.
  • Responsibility for management and outcomes of other mass-market fundraising events as budgeted and approved to meet the goals of the strategic plan.
  • Shared responsibility with Constituent Events Team for budgeted outcomes of all Georgia-based Constituent Events.

II. Recruits, Trains and Manages Teams of Community-Based Volunteer Leadership:

  • Responsible for organization, training and management of community based volunteer leaders necessary to assure successful implementation of assigned events each year.
  • Responsible for ongoing training and support of volunteer leaders necessary in order to keep pace with the objectives and outcomes required of constituent events within the Alzheimer's Association, Strategic Plan.
  • Responsible for working within Constituent Events team to insure best practices for implementation and management of all constituent events are being shared and followed statewide.
  • Works with local Community Outreach Director(s) to insure necessary local volunteer resources are recruited and training opportunities occur to support successful event outcomes.

III. Responsible for accurate and timely reporting on the progress of all assigned events.

IV. Supports Georgia Chapter Development Team:

  • As a member of the Georgia Chapter Development team and overall staff team of the Georgia Chapter works collaboratively within these teams as well as with other stakeholders implementing other activities as assigned to meet the overall needs of the Alzheimer's Association Strategic Plan.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned by Sr. Director of Constituent Events.





Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of two years demonstrated success in non-profit event management.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven success in organization, management and financial outcomes of large-scale community events.
  • Proven success in volunteer leadership recruitment, training and management preferably in a non-profit healthcare environment.
  • Strong and proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task.
  • Experience handling community based media relations.
  • Proven experience with Blackbaud/Convio or relevant online fundraising systems.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Some travel required within state.
