Associate Director, Federal Affairs |
| General Summary |
The Associate Director, Federal Affairs is responsible to lobby and/or conduct appropriations work with the Federal government and assist in government affairs efforts. This person will develop and implement federal legislative and regulatory policies, and monitor developments in federal affairs for the Association's Public Policy division based in Washington, DC. The Associate Director will report to the division's Director, Federal Affairs, also based in the Washington office. We seek an individual with experience working with members of Congress, their staffs and other key policymakers. The preferred candidate will have direct lobbying and/or appropriations and research experience with substantive expertise in health care issues, including Medicare and health care reform. The successful candidate must be a strong team player and enjoy working in a collegial yet highly demanding and effective culture. Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, execute strategy, and operate with confidentiality will also be required as are excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. We seek an individual with an appreciation for the complexities of working within a large voluntary health organization. In addition, the preferred candidate will have a strong mission orientation and a passion for advocacy on behalf of the Alzheimer's Association and the people it represents. |
