Providing professionals with unmatched training and care practices that will improve the residential environment for everyone.

     

What is the Quality Care Campaign?

The Quality Care Campaign is a multi-part campaign, focused on recommendations that emphasize the importance of:

  •   The development of relationships between staff and residents
  •   Increasing staff knowledge of individual resident needs, abilities and preferences
  •   Giving supervisors the skills to model best practices and motivate staff to be independent problem solvers
  •   Providing CEUs for CNAs, HHAs, LVNs, RNs, LCSWs, MFTs and RCFEs

Training for all phases is available to individual facilities. Please contact Meyling Eliash-Daneshfar at meyling@alz.org or by calling (805) 484-6028 for more information and to schedule training. The workshops focus on key areas of practice where an immediate intervention can make a significant difference in an individual’s quality of life.

After attending the Phase I workshop, attendees will be able to:

   •   Define the fundamentals of dementia care
   •   Understand the importance of food and fluid consumption
   •   Implement techniques for pain management
   •   Provide meaningful activities for social engagement

After attending the Phase II workshop, attendees will be able to:

   •   Define the term "physical restraint"
   •   Identify a physical restraint and possible alternatives 
   •   Understand both individual and surrounding risk factors for falls
   •   Define wandering
   •   Identify situations that may lead to wandering

After attending the Phase III workshop, attendees will be able to:

   •   Describe severe or late-stage Alzheimer's disease
   •   List strategies for making an effective end-of-life transition for your residents
   •   Identify and explain appropriate care approaches to end-of-life symptoms
   •   Identify ways relationships and meaningful interactions can enhance quality of life at the end of life
   •   Discuss support strategies for family and staff during end of life
