The 16th annual “A Night at Sardi’s” – an awards ceremony and gala fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association of the California Southland – raised $1.1 million for the fight against Alzheimer’s, Wednesday night, March 5, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The event, attended by more than 900 guests, honored 14-year-old Lindsey Jordan for the care she has given her father, who has Alzheimer’s disease, since she was only eight, and also honored David E. Kelley’s award-winning ABC drama, “Boston Legal,” for its accurate portrayal of Alzheimer’s disease.
Featured celebrities, including Jason Alexander, Kristen Bell, Vanesa Williams, Dick Van Dyke, Tony Plana, Zachary Levi, and Steven Weber, performed musical selections from Broadway's “Bye, Bye Birdie”. Introduced at the top of the evening by FOX 11 Good Day L.A.’s Steve Edwards, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa spoke to guests about the impact of Alzheimer’s with 5.1 million Americans diagnosed with the disease nationwide.
