Get the emotional support you need

Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York Chapter support groups provide a consistent and caring place for individuals affected by Alzheimer's disease, dementia or memory loss to discuss challenges, share feelings, and find emotional support. Group members also exchange information and educate themselves about dementia. Support groups are led by individuals who have undergone extensive training by the Alzheimer’s Association. They participate in regular training calls with Chapter staff, receive regular updates on Alzheimer’s research and caregiving, as well as Alzheimer’s Association news and events.

Caregiver Support Groups

Caregiver support groups promote an open forum of sharing and discussion amongst people facing many of the same issues. The group’s power rests within its members’ ability to show compassion, develop strategies and empower its members to provide the highest quality care possible.

Early Stage Support Groups

The Chapter’s early-stage groups provide peer-to-peer conversation and support for individuals specifically diagnosed in the disease’s early stages. Groups are open to the individual with the disease and the caregiver, and provide a supportive platform to express oneself and cope with changes related to the diagnosis. Advanced screening is recommended prior to attending by calling the number listed with that group.
