New Alzheimer’s Support Group Launched
Text Size controlsNormal font sizeMedium font sizeLarge font size

The Alzheimer’s Association, Central Ohio Chapter is initiating a Caregiver Support Group for Adult Children who are caring for a parent with memory loss.  The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the Worthington United Methodist Church.

The leaders for this Adult Children group Liz Zeigler and Pat Badgero, are both only children who are caring for their mothers with dementia.  Liz and Pat met in February 2008 on the morning of attending their first support group.  They stood outside of the meeting room debating whether they were appropriate for a support group, and have since become close friends.  “Our mothers might as well be twins,” remark the two.

Liz and Pat are very excited about the opportunity to provide a unique environment where other children can share their experiences and support each other while caring for parents with memory loss.

The group will be held on the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Worthington United Methodist Church located at 600 High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085.

For more information on the support group and to attend, please call Colleen Monjot at (614) 457-6003 or email cmonjot@alz.org.
