AWARE is a new way to fight Alzheimer’s.

Now in our third year, AWARE continues efforts to raise awareness and create resources and support to “help the helpers.”

To fund our efforts, AWARE created and hosts its annual “Summer Solstice — Hot Time in the Park Party!,” which has netted nearly $60,000. All of this resulted from a group of hard-working women that believe they could make something wonderful out of nothing.

Out of these funds, a chunk is sent to the National Alzheimer’s Association to support its outreach and research efforts. The rest of the money stays right here in Central Ohio. Allocations have purchased “Safe Return” bracelets for those who cannot afford them on their own. We also provide scholarships for those with financial needs that otherwise fall outside traditional support services. The Central Ohio Chapter is blessed with a wonderful clinical staff. Its members help us allocate these funds.  Other projects to support caregivers are in the works. We will keep you posted.

We are always trying to grow our membership base and would love to count others in our ranks.

Sparking Imaginations at the Columbus Museum of Art.

A Free Tour at CMA
Last Tuesday of the Month at 1:00 PM

A partnership program of the Columbus Museum of Art (CMA), the Alzheimer’s Association Central Ohio Chapter and Alzheimer's Women’s Association (AWARE) is an experience for people with early stage memory loss and their care partners.  Together with specially trained Museum docents, participants have lively discussions in the galleries about art, ideas, and memories over the course of an hour.  Memory books are distributed at the end of the tour so that you can bring the museum experience home with you.  Please call 614-629-5947 a week in advance to register.  You can also find more information at:
