Position Title: Special Programs Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Education

Basic Function: Oversees Denver Metro caregiver support group program. Coordinates services to early/young onset people with dementia and their families to include counseling, education and support groups.  Provides service delivery to Boulder County residents.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and provide substitutes for Denver metro support group leaders.
  • Oversee compliance with standards and annual site visits.
  • Conduct quarterly information/update mailings to group leaders.
  • Monitor attendance and submit stipend requests.
  • Co-facilitate evening Late Stage support group every month.
  • Assess and establish new groups as needed.
  • Maintain current chapter statewide support group listings on website, in newsletter, and Denver Metro listings.
  • Facilitate the support group for early/young onset people and their families.
  • Conduct education classes for early/young onset people and their families.
  • Provide information, counseling and referral to early/young onset families and maintain consultation documentation.
  • Identify early/young onset resources locally and through national/global networks.
  • Update resources in helpline for early/young onset.
  • Collaborate with Early Stage Services Manager to plan Annual Forum.
  • Collaborate with Early Stage Services Manager to recruit early/young onset Memory Walk team.
  • Oversee outreach to Boulder County to include education and support group offerings.
  • Gather informed consents and report services used as part of the National Family Caregiver Support Program when indicated.
  • Identify, refer and do follow-up with respite grant clients.
  • Maintain and report program statistics.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.

Requirements: 
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in social work, nursing, gerontology, psychology or related field.  Previous experience working with support groups, counseling skills, developing and presenting education seminars, public speaking, computer skills.  Evening and weekend work required.
