Last year almost 2000 people attended the Miami Valley Memory Walk hosted at five sites.  Each person walking has a unique story.  This year we want to collect the stories of our team captains, walkers, county chairs, board, staff and people in our community who will help us champion this cause to End Alzheimer's.  Will you share your story with us to ensure that Memory Walk keeps focused on the people effected by Alzhimer's and related dementias in the Miami Valley.

In an email to eric.vanvlymen@alz.org share:

1) Your name
2) Who you are walking for... (i.e., yourself, a family member, a co-worker who has dealt with the disease, your facility, etc)
3) Meaningful Connections...(i.e., teamcaptain, family member, friend, community representative, support group leader, etc)
3) Your unique story about why you are walking or supporting the MemoryWalk
4) How the Alzheimer's Association has helped you and your family.

*** Send a picture of your loved one or your team from an earlier walk.

Walking for:  Castilano Family/Memory of Mary Castilano/All those we serve!

Eric VanVlymen - Friend, Team Captain, Assoc. Dir of Programs/Communicaton-Miami Valley Chapter - Though I have no family member directly affected, I cared for people with dementia and their families when I was the director of an Adult Day Center.  I walk each year in memory of Mary Castilano because she and her family modeled the commitment to each other that I hope to see in my own family.  Though her care was difficult at times, the whole family, including three teenage daughters, cared for her with respect and dignity.  They saw and treated her as a person and not a disease.
