Programs for Caregivers

First Steps - Comprehensive education programs for caregivers

Essentials - Monthly education classes for caregivers at three different sites February through October

Support Groups - Groups meet throughout our nine counties.  Find a group today!

Special Events - Special events include Advocacy day, caregiver retreat, family picnic, science/research update program, and events to help end Alzheimer's and support programs and services 

Programs for People Living with Early Stage Dementia

Early Stage Education Series - Comprehensive education program focused on the person living with early stage dementia

Early Stage Support Group - Monthly group for people living with early stage dementia that discusses issues like Loss of Driving, Coping with the Diagnosis, Anger, Sharing the Diagnosis with Others, Dealing with Your Caregiver

Memory Café – This NEW monthly program, designed for the person living with early stage dementia, encourage friendship and life enjoyment.  Events include art workshop, writing workshop, visit to Cox Arboretum, and more.


Programs for Professionals

Dementia Care Mapping – Developed by the man who started the person-centered dementia care movement, Tom Kitwood, this program teaches professionals a valid way to measure quality of life from the person with dementia’s perspective.  Learn more
his program is being scheduled for June 2011.  Details TBA soon.


Professional Conference – This program is held yearly in November and offers CE for professionals and speakers from around the country who are experts in the field.

In-service Training - The Miami Valley Chapter Alzheimer's Association offers a variety of in-service trainings.
