The Alzheimer’s Association offers information, programs and support services to people from all backgrounds. The Delaware Valley Chapter provides user-friendly services to meet the needs of culturally diverse people who need help with the issues related to memory loss. The chapter wants to be sure that everyone can be served regardless of language or economic and educational backgrounds.
The Delaware Valley Chapter has been serving the mainstream community for more than 26 years. Our Latino Outreach Program began in 1998. The chapter’s experience, expertise and many community service partnerships enable the Alzheimer’s Association to bring quality service and compassionate care to families within the Hispanic/Latino community.
Regional Spanish-language services and literature available
Hispanic/Latino outreach, and service delivery, is a priority for the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter. Most of the Latino outreach activities take place in Philadelphia, but the chapter strives to serve the increasing number of Hispanics/Latinos in different parts of our region including:
- Lehigh Valley
- Reading
- Chester
- Delaware
- South Jersey
Our chapter plays an important role in serving the Hispanic/Latino community throughout the Delaware Valley area.
The chapter provides education and support to the Hispanic/Latino community through culturally, and linguistically, appropriate educational resources, brochures, fact sheets, videos and DVDs covering a variety of caregiving topics.

Delaware Valley Chapter’s Programs and Services in Spanish/English
The chapter’s core services include:- Resources to help Hispanic/Latino families understand, and cope with, the effects of Alzheimer’s disease
- 24/7/365 telephone Contact Center/Helpline (with access to a translation service in 140 languages)
- Community and family education programs
- Support groups
- Safe Return for Wanderers Program
The chapter also offers training to professionals who care for people with memory loss. We teach service providers to deliver the best day-to-day care to people with dementia in the following settings: Adult day services; in-home care workers; assisted living residences; personal care boarding homes and nursing homes.

The single most important thing that a family can do to provide the very best care to their loved one is to Get Educated about the disease, and how to cope with the changes that occur.The Delaware Valley Chapter provides a broad range of up-to-date educational programs IN SPANISH for:
- people living with the disease

- professional health care providers.

With the support of our National Alzheimer’s Association Office and a local volunteer advisory committee, the chapter has revised and updated our resources translated into Spanish; i.e., the basic information packet, flyers, and brochures.
