Alzheimer's Association East Central Iowa Chapter
Calls on Community to Raise $60,000 to be Matched by Jones/Stead Challenge
The Alzheimer’s Association East Central Iowa Chapter invites the community to join a chapter wide effort to raise $60,000. The Jones/Stead Challenge will match dollar for dollar, leadership giving of $2,500 or more up to $60,000.
Current estimates show that more than 5 million people in the United States – and 26 million people worldwide – have Alzheimer’s. Researchers predict that by 2050 the global prevalence of the disease will quadruple, affecting more than 100 million individuals. Help is needed for solving Alzheimer’s disease, educating and supporting those affected by it, and alerting the public of a disease that poses perhaps the greatest threat to our health care system.
Jerre L. Stead, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, IHS, Inc. and Debbie Jones, Alzheimer’s Association East Central Iowa Chapter President recently co-founded a local initiative called CARES (Community for Alzheimer Research, Education and Support).
“Our community and other communities around the world can not afford to lose the battle against Alzheimer’s disease,” stated Jones. “Jerre and I are deeply committed to raising awareness and important resources to accelerate progress toward finding a cure or prevention.”
The Alzheimer’s Association is asking individuals, corporations and foundations to accept the Jones/Stead Challenge by making a leadership gift of $2,500 or more to the East Central Iowa Chapter.
