Alzheimer’s Awareness Month
also focuses on family caregivers

As many as 5.3 million Americans live with Alzheimer’s and as many 10 million family members serving as caregivers. In addition to National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, November is also National Family Caregivers Month. We’re providing support to those caring for someone with Alzheimer’s with two new resources: Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Notebook and Alzheimer's Association Comfort Zone™, powered by Omnilink.

Study: Surgery, illness don’t alter mental function

In new findings that challenge previous reports, researchers suggest that illness and surgery don’t contribute to long-term cognitive decline in elderly people nor accelerate the progression of dementia.

New York Rita Hayworth Gala raises funds for care, support and research

The Alzheimer’s Association’s New York Rita Hayworth Gala, themed “So Near & Yet So Far,” raised nearly $2 million. Guests such as Alzheimer Champions Bryant Gumbel and David Hyde Pierce, as well as Brooke Shields, Regis Philbin and John McEnroe, enjoyed a glamorous evening at the Waldorf=Astoria Hotel. Over the past 24 years, Rita Hayworth Galas in New York and Chicago have raised more than $50 million. There’s still time to attend the inaugural Dallas Rita Hayworth
Gala on Nov. 14.
