Early-stage memory loss groups for persons who have been diagnosed with mild memory impairment
The Georgia Chapter and the Emory Alzheimer’s Disease Center at Wesley Woods co-sponsor an Early Memory Loss Support Group. The group is for both the person diagnosed with mild memory loss and the caregiver.
Two groups are formed each year. The groups are facilitated by dementia care professionals at Wesley Woods. Topics include: overview of progressive memory impairment and its meaning for the individual; coping with change; communication skills; improving memorial skills; planning for the future; and stress management.
This group is offered free of charge. For more information about the Early-stage memory loss group, please contact Suzette Binford in the Atlanta office at 1.800.272.3900.
"A Time To Talk"
A Time To Talk is a peer telephone support program assisting persons with early stage dementia and caregivers of dementia patients. The program provides telephone calls 2 times a month to participants who can benefit by receiving emotional support, coping strategies, or just a listening ear by someone who understands. All calls are made by volunteers who either have early memory loss or experience caring for a person with dementia. To participate, volunteer, or to receive more information, please contact Camille Noell at the Georgia Chapter Alzheimer's Association 1.800.272.3900, ext. 6061 or email@example.com.
