It is unique in that it focuses on the individual with memory loss, it is participant driven, promotes socialization, fosters well being, and personal growth. Discussion topics may include careers, families, friends, social activities, independence vs. dependence, understanding the diagnosis, driving, medical, physical and emotional challenges, loss frustration, happiness and joy. Support group listings The Early Stage Discussion Group is designed for persons diagnosed with early stage dementia as well as their primary care partners. By means of peer support and group leader facilitation, participants will learn more about their diagnosis and will be provided with tools to assist in planning for their futures. This is a time limited-educational discussion group. Each session will begin with an educational discussion focusing on topics such as The Facts about Alzheimer's disease and dementia, planning for the future, coping techniques and more.
