Our mission
To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
Our vision
A world without Alzheimer's disease.
Our History
In 1983, a small group of Dallas area families gathered together to offer mutual support and advice in dealing with the devastation that Alzheimer’s disease was creating in their families. Later that year, the group affiliated with the newly formed National Alzheimer’s Association. In 1985, the Greater Dallas Chapter was chartered by the State of Texas and classified for tax purposes as a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. Today, over eighty chapters of the Alzheimer’s Association provide emotional care and financial support to families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. The Alzheimer’s Association is the only centralized professional source of support for Alzheimer’s families in the Dallas and surrounding counties. The Greater Dallas Chapter has grown into one of the largest Chapters in the country and has a presence in each of the 34 counties it serves.
Financial Information
The Greater Dallas Chapter is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, donor-supported organization. Programs and services are made possible through contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations. The chapter uses 75 percent of all funds raised for programs, services and research efforts.
