About Professional Training


The Alzheimer's Association is committed to helping professionals improve their knowledge and skills, build stronger teams and deliver better care to people with dementia and their families. Training and education programs are geared to professionals working in both community-based and residential care settings. Our programs and meetings have been attended by activity professionals, administrators, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, social workers, CNAs and staff trainers. Many of our caregiver conferences also offer CEUs.

The Alzheimer’s Association and LeadingAge Iowa are pleased to collaborate once again to offer an exclusive, interactive and dynamic program: Dementia Education – A Train-the-Trainer Approach.

The purpose of this train-the-trainer program is to offer education based on the curriculum module created by the Iowa Dementia Education Task Force recommendations and exceeds the CMS 6-hour program “Hand-to-Hand”. Register today to share this curriculum with your entire staff and impact the care of elders in your community with best practices for dementia care.

CARES® Online Dementia Care Training & Individual Certification Program

essentiALZ™ Certification Program

The Alzheimer’s Association essentiALZ certification program is a convenient way for individuals to be recognized for learning quality dementia care practices.  The essentiALZ program combines select HealthCare Interactive® CARES® online dementia care training with Alzheimer’s Association online certification exams. The essentiALZ program was developed to recognize the knowledge of any caregiver who fulfills the certification requirements, regardless of whether they are paid or unpaid for their care of people with dementia.  More
