Planned Giving

Wills and Bequests:
Many of our supporters make charitable gifts by naming the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Iowa Chapter as a beneficiary in their wills. The federal government encourages these gifts or bequests, by allowing an unlimited estate tax charitable deduction. You can name the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Iowa Chapter in your will. You can add the Alzheimer's Association to your will simply by adding the following language, "I give, devise and bequeath (insert amount of gift, percentage of estate or residuary of estate) to the Greater Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, with offices located at 1730 28th Street, West Des Moines, IA 50266." Consult an attorney for more information.

Designation of Retirement Benefits:
Retirement benefits are the most expensive asset for family members to inherit. These benefits are subject not only to estate and inheritance taxes, but also to state and federal income tax. By naming the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Iowa Chapter as a partial beneficiary of the plan, you can offset some of the taxes your loved ones would have to pay while supporting the Association at the same time.

Charitable Gift Annuities:
Depending on your age, a charitable gift annuity can be a great alternative to a traditional certificate of deposit at your local bank. You make an irrevocable gift of money or securities to the Greater Iowa Chapter and receive a fixed dollar amount annually. The rate of return on your investment is usually 5 times higher than it would be from a certificate of deposit and your original donation for the annuity is partially tax deductible.

Other Planned Giving Options:
The Alzheimer's Association, Greater Iowa Chapter has a multitude of other planned giving opportunities. For more information about which option is right for you, contact the Greater Iowa Chapter at 515.440.2722.

Memorial and Tribute Giving

Memorial Donations:
A memorial gift is given in honor of an individual who has passed away.  Upon receipt of your gift, we will send a memorial card that announces the gift but not the amount to the family of the deceased.

Tribute Giving:
A tribute gift is the opportunity to mark a special occasion, such as a wedding, birthday or holiday.  We will acknowledge the occasion by sending a card to the person you designate, announcing the gift but not the amount.

Gifts of Stock

Donating stocks or securities to the Alzheimer's Association is a way to help the chapter provide vital services and support while receiving potential tax benefits. It is easy, safe, and cost effective to transfer stocks directly to the chapter. Please notify Lisa Stephany, Greater Iowa Chapter Development Director, or call 515.440.2722 to make any necessary arrangements.
