Apples for Alzheimer's

The 2010 Apple Campaign fundraiser with the theme "Take The Bite Out of Alzheimer's" was again successful in raising money for programs and services as well as research for Alzheimer's disease.  Fresh apples were supplied to us by Kimmel Orchard of Nebraska City and local businesses and individuals purchased a bushel of apples to give to employees, other local charities, and for personal use.

Our paper apple campaign was also a success as retailers throughout the Great Plains area participated and sold the paper apples for $1 to customers who donated throughout the months of November and December.  Among those participating were Eakes Office Supply with outlets in Kearney, Grand Island, Hastings, Beatrice, North Platte, York, Columbus, Norfolk, Fremont, McCook, all Four Star Drug locations in Lincoln, Ideal Grocery, Heartland Pantry, and Leon's Market.

If you or a public outlet you work with would be interested in selling the apples, please call Kris Hall at the Lincoln office at 402.420.2540 or send e-mail to kris.hall@alz.org.  All those who worked with the program this year felt it was easy to manage and was very successful.  We hope to increase locations in 2011 while we continue to "Take The Bite Out of Alzheimer's."
