An Apple a Day may Keep the Doctor Away, and we hope it will also help keep Alzheimer's away.  In honor of Alzheimer's Awareness Month in November, the Great Plains Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association will hold its own Take a Bite out of Alzheimer's campaign.  This drive seeks to raise awareness of dementia and its accompanying issues, while raising additional dollars for research and support services.  2008 presents new efforts with new partners, including Ideal Grocery in Lincoln, local grocers throughout Wyoming and Nebraska, especially those associated with Affiliated Foods based in Norfolk, Nebraska.  These partners will offer paper apples for you to purchase in honor of or in remembrance of a loved one.  They are also an investment in finding a cure or prevention for the disease.

Bushels of eating apples will also be sold in Lincoln or you can call the office at 402.420.2540 to order your fruit.  Please ask your local grocer to buy an honorary apple and post the name of your loved one in the store.
