We offer several educational programs for families and individuals facing Alzheimer’s, as well as community members. Most of these programs, described below, are free of charge. The Great Plains Chapter offers many programs to fit nearly all of the needs of care givers. A few of these programs are listed below. If you would like to schedule a program, please contact the chapter staff person nearest you.
Family caregiver series
Communication and Understanding Behaviors--a one hour presentation which works well for both facility staff and home care giver in services. The program teaches the basics of Alzheimer's disease and it's progression, good communication and the role it plays in preventing difficult behaviors and dealing with them if they occur.
The Basics of Alzheimer's Disease--a one hour presentation which teaches how the brain works and how Alzheimer's disease affects it. It goes into detail how the disease progresses, the importance of an early diagnosis and what is currently available for the affected person.
