More than 400 supporters of the Alzheimer's Association gathered at the chapter's 6th Annual Reason to Hope Breakfast on March 27, 2014.

Thanks to our generous Sponsors and Table Hosts, the event has raised over $120,000 to support Chapter programs and services.  The one-hour program featured a video about the chapter's services and remarks by Marie Kolendo of Genworth, Board President; Sherry Peterson, Chapter CEO; Mike Larkin, Former Board President; and family caregiver, Fran Zehmer, discussed her experience in helping her husband in his day-to-day life with Alzheimer's.

From its founding in 1980, the Alzheimer's Association has led the fight to make Alzheimer's disease a national priority.  During November, the Greater Richmond Chapter marks the awareness month by hosting an Alzheimer's Advocate Recognition Reception.  This year's invitational reception was held on November 14, 2013 at the Virginia War Memorial.  The reception was a tribute to donors, volunteers, caregivers and, in particular, to local advocates who have helped build awareness of the Association and generate concern about the disease and its impact on families.  More than 100 guests enjoyed complimentary appetizers, drinks, and entertainment.

2013 Honorees included:
