The Alzheimer's Association of Greater Wisconsin has placed Early Stage detection, programs, support and workplace champions at the top of the priority list for our Strategic Plan (2009 - 2011).  Below is a list of ways you can help us.....while helping yourself and others in your community.

About early stage programs

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or early stage dementia, involvement in early stage programs can be very helpful. Participating in a positive, supportive, and stimulating program may enhance personal well-being and may help individuals with these diagnoses to remain healthier longer.

If you or someone you know is experiencing memory problems but you have not yet seen a physician, we strongly encourage you to make an appointment and have these concerns evaluated. This can be done through your primary physician or through a local Memory Assessment Clinic.

Early stage programs offer:

  • Education on dementia-related issues and concerns
  • Personal support
  • A welcoming environment to share with others who are experiencing similar issues
  • Opportunities for cognitive enhancement and meaningful activity

Some early stage programs also include opportunities for caregiver support.

The AEDA program is specifically designed for the workplace.  With over 500,000 people under 65 have Alzheimer's or a related dementia and another 10 million people are providing care for one of the 5 million people who have Alzheimer's today.

All companies and organizations will be exposed to Alzheimer's disease or some form of dementia.  As the baby boomer population enters the age of greatest risk - Early Detection is essential.

Is your company or organization ready?  Become a Workplace champion against Alzheimer's disease today.  Join the AEDA program and learn more about Alzheimer's disease and how to set your company apart in understanding this dreaded disease.

Member Level - The association will educate our employees about early detection using information provided in a toolkit and complete a simple reporting took so our efforts are recognized.

Champion Level - Take the additional step to educate customers and/or the public about the importance of early detection of Alzheimer's.

Paid In-service training - Allow our staff to meet with you and arrange a lunch-hour seminar or full-scale presentation for your organization.  Rates start at only $75 per hour.  Become an organizational member of our association and receive one hour of in-service training for free.
