Tips for Fundraising Success

  1. Ask people for donations to support Team CARE instead of asking for pledges. (Remember, all donations must be turned in on or before Marathon Day.
  2. Send letters to potential donors in which you talk about Team CARE, why you’re a member and why you hope they will make a donation to you through Team CARE to support the Alzheimer’s Association. Remind recipients their donations are tax-deductible. Don’t forget to include a self-addressed stamped envelope.
  3. Check out your employer’s matching gift policy—many companies match their employees’ charitable contributions.
  4. Host a gathering at your home or club with a part of the time dedicated to talking about Team CARE., why you’re a member and inviting guests to make a donation to you through Team CARE to support the Alzheimer’s Association.
  5. Treat co-workers or members of a social, civic or fraternal organization with donuts or bagels. Post a sign inviting their support in exchange for a tasty treat. For example, the sign could read: "Please take one — and support the Alzheimer’s Association by donating 50¢ per donut or $13 per mile for every mile I Joe Smith runs in the 26.2-mile Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 12th."
