Alzheimer's Association to Present Q & A with First Responders - Peoria
Questions and Answers with Your First Responders will be the featured topic of Wednesday’s Wisdom, the Alzheimer's Association’s monthly lecture series, to be held Wednesday, December 2, from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m., at the Central Illinois Chapter office, 606 W. Glen Avenue, Peoria.

 
Alzheimer’s Association to Present Illinois Dementia Care for Professional Caregivers - Pekin
The Alzheimer’s Association, Central Illinois Chapter, will present an Illinois Dementia Care for Direct Care Staff program, Thursday, Dec. 3, at Pekin Hospital, 600 S. 13th Street, Pekin.

 
Alzheimer’s Association to Host Program on Holiday Stress - Mendota
For most families, the holiday season is a time for gathering, sharing, laughter and memories. However, for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease, the season can be very stressful, for those with the disease and their caregivers.
The Alzheimer’s Association, Central Illinois Chapter, will host “Holiday Stress,” Thursday, December 3, from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. at the Mendota Civic Center, 1901 Tom Merwin Drive.

Quincy area residents can attend an Alzheimer’s disease support group meeting Monday, November 23,  6:30 p.m. at the Alzheimer's Association Quincy Area Branch Office. The office is located at the Senior Center, 639 York Street, Room 200.

 Alzheimer’s Association to Present Advanced Topics for Alzheimer’s Care for Professional Staff - Peoria
Professional healthcare staff will learn how to recognize and report pain in dementia patients at an upcoming Advanced Topics in Alzheimer’s Care (ATAC) program to be held Tuesday, Nov. 24th, at the Central Illinois Chapter Alzheimer's Association, Peoria. The half day program runs from 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

 Surviving the Holidays Topic of Alzheimer’s Lunch & Learn Series - Pittsfield
“Surviving the Holidays” will be the subject of the November 17th Third Tuesday’s Topics Lunch and Learn Series, sponsored by the Quincy Area Branch Alzheimer's Association.  The program will begin at 11:45 a.m. at The Crossroads Center, 125 West Jefferson, Pittsfield.

 Candle Lighting Ceremony to Commemorate National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month in November - Dixon
The Rock River Area Branch Alzheimer's Association will hold a Candle Lighting Service Nov. 17th to honor or remember loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease as an event of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month.

Participants are invited to attend the program beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Branch office, located at 93 S. Hennepin, Dixon.

 Alzheimer’s Association to Present Trivia Night - Peoria
Bring your friends, family and neighbors and test your level of trivia knowledge while raising funds for a good cause as the Central Illinois Chapter Alzheimer’s Association presents Trivia Night, Saturday, November 14th.  The event will be held at Knights of Columbus Hall, 7403 N. Radnor Road, Peoria. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.; questions begin at 7:00 p.m.

 Candle Lighting Ceremony to Commemorate National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month in November - Quincy
The Quincy Area Branch Alzheimer's Association will hold a Candle Lighting Service Nov. 17th to honor or remember loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease as an event of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month.

Participants are invited to attend a soup supper beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Good Samaritan Home, 2130 Harrison, followed by the candle lighting at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Dessert and social time will follow the ceremony.

Wandering is always a safety issue for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, and with winter weather approaching, they are at an increased risk of exposure or hypothermia. Fortunately, the Central Illinois Chapter Alzheimer’s Association offers Medic Alert + Safe Return, the only nationwide program that assists in the identification and safe, timely return of individuals with dementia who wander and become lost.

The Quincy Area Branch Alzheimer’s Association will host an open house to showcase its array of support services and educational programs available to area residents Thursday, Nov. 5th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Branch Office, located at the Quincy Senior Senior, 639 York Street, Quincy.

 Alzheimer's Association to Present Caregiver Program in Wyoming
The Central Illinois Chapter Alzheimer’s Association is offering “Now What Was I Saying,” a public health program to educate residents on steps they can take to make brain health one of the overall goals of the healthy aging process.  The presentation will take place Thursday, October 29th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at St. Dominic’s Church Parish Hall, 208 S. Galena, Wyoming.
