The Alzheimer’s Association is offering a unique opportunity to both professionals and families to learn information about Alzheimer’s disease from nationally known clinicians.  Participants will learn the most up-to-date information and will also be able to ask the burning questions you have about Alzheimer’s.

The courses that will be offered are:

June 4: Understanding Aging, Memory and Dementia, presented by Frederick W. Unverzagt, Ph.D. 
Dr. Unverzagt teaches and provides clinical training to students and trainees at all levels.  He lectures on neuropsychological assessment, neurobiology of memory, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and cognitive aging.

June 11: Using Imaging in Alzheimer’s Disease Research, presented by Andrew Saykin, Psy.D., ABCN. 
Dr. Saykin's own NIH and foundation sponsored research program focuses on the use of brain imaging and genomic methods to study mechanisms of memory dysfunction and treatment response in neurological and psychiatric disorders.

June 18: Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease and Genetics, presented by Tatiana Foroud, Ph.D. 
The central focus of research in Dr. Foroud’s laboratory includes the mapping of Mendelian and complex inherited diseases. Recently, she has been involved in the localization of genes for several Mendelian (single-gene) disorders including: the autosomal dominant disorders familial primary pulmonary hypertension and multiple system presenile dementia.

June 25: Current Treatments and Promising Research, presented by Ann M. Hake, M.D. 
Dr. Hake conducts biomedical research that focuses on the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of dementia.

Parking in the Riley Outpatient garage will be validated.  Upon attending all four courses, attendees will receive a certificate of completion.
