Still Alice Awareness Events at Borders & Waldenbooks

Still Alice is a novel about the descent of a 50-year-old university professor diagnosed with younger-onset Alzheimer's disease.

The Alzheimer’s Association assisted author Lisa Genova with her research, which included interviews with several members of past Early Stage Advisory Groups. The Association is also featured prominently in the book's plot.

In addition, the Alzheimer’s Association worked with Genova, who also blogs at actionalz.org, to create the Still Alice discussion guide, specifically for people living with Alzheimer's. The guide, the first of its kind, is intended to help people with the disease use Alice's story to connect with their experience and explain it to others.

In an attempt to not only promote Still Alice but to also get the word about Alzheimer’s Awareness, there will be booths set up in various Borders/Waldenbooks locations throughout the state. These booths will have information about the Alzheimer’s Association programs and services and ways for you to get the information you need. Sign up to be an advocate, a volunteer or simply see what we are doing in your community.

- Craig Wilson, USA Today

“This is the clearest and most truthful piece of fiction I have read depicting living with Alzheimer's.  You accurately describe the feelings and actions of both persons, together, entangled in this dance with Alzheimer’s Disease. Thank you for writing this story.”
