Honorary Hosts
This year’s honorary hosts of Chocolate Sunday are Tom and Carlotta Cyrus. Carlotta was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease three years ago at the age of 53. She has been doing her best to deal with the diagnosis and effects with help from her loving husband, Tom, and the support of the Alzheimer’s Association and many friends and neighbors. Their mantra has been to “Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and live in the moment.” Please join Tom and Cartlotta at this year’s Chocolate Sunday.

Guest Speaker
Dr. Bernardino Ghetti
Dr. Ghetti is a Distinguished Professor and Chancellor’s Professor at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Ghetti is director of the Indiana Alzheimer Disease Center, co-director of the Division of Neuropathology and President of the International Society of Neuropathology (2006-2010). He has spent the past forty years studying the pathology and the biochemical and molecular mechanisms of dementias, including Alzheimer disease. Dr. Ghetti has been recognized many times for his contributions to this field, including the Potamkin Prize for Research in Alzheimer and Pick Disease, by the American Academy of Neurology in 1999, an honorary doctorate in medicine from the University of Siena, Italy in 2005 and the Henry M. Wisniewski Lifetime Achievement Award in Alzheimer’s Disease Research by the Alzheimer’s Association in 2008 during the 11th International Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease in Chicago.

Chocolate Sunday is an annual event held by the Alzheimer's Association to inform our community about the latest developments in Alzheimer’s research and to raise funds needed to provide the free programs and services that are critical to families dealing with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.
