Association Honors NuStep, Inc. at Chelsea Reception
Physical Therapy Services of Chelsea, new owner of NuStep TRS 4000, hosts event
The Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter honored NuStep, Inc., maker of the NuStep TRS 4000 recumbent cross trainer, at a reception August 23 at Physical Therapy Services of Chelsea. More than 100 people attended the event and celebrated the contributions of NuStep, Inc., a long-time supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Those in attendance included NuStep President and CEO Dick Sarns and his wife, Norma Sarns; NuStep Vice President Steve Sarns; United Methodist Retirement Communities (UMRC) President and CEO John Thorhauer; UMRC-Heritage Foundation Executive Director Marie Seddon; Chelsea Mayor Ann Feeney; John and Gloria Mitchell, owners, Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Homes; Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter Board Chair Denise Rabidoux; Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter President and CEO Elizabeth Longley; and Marcy Boughton, owner, Physical Therapy Services of Chelsea. All the guests enjoyed food and beverages generously donated by UMRC - Heritage Foundation.
The event brought together NuStep, Inc. and Physical Therapy Services of Chelsea, who both lent their support to the Alzheimer’s Association’s Summer Somewhere fundraiser in February. NuStep, Inc., the presenting sponsor for Summer Somewhere ‘07, donated a TRS 4000 recumbent cross trainer for the event’s silent auction; Physical Therapy Services of Chelsea purchased the trainer and many area residents are now using the machine as part of their physical therapy regimen.
The NuStep TRS 4000 recumbent cross trainer was developed by exercise physiologists to help people stay in motion regardless of physical condition. NuStep, Inc.’s products are in use at fitness, wellness and rehabilitation centers across the country, including The Mayo Clinic, The
University of Michigan, the Cleveland Clinic and the Duke Center for Living. Last December, the Ann Arbor-based company joined with ABC’s hit television show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” to make a young woman's at-home rehabilitation possible. NuStep donated a TRS 4000 cross trainer for Los Angeles police officer Kristina Ripatti, who was shot, and subsequently paralyzed, in the line of duty.
