Alzheimer’s Association Relocates West Shore Regional Office

Free Education Program Scheduled for April 19 in Muskegon

The Alzheimer’s Association, the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer research, care and support, has relocated its West Shore Regional office to better serve the local community.  The Association, which was previously located on West Norton Avenue in Muskegon, has moved to 549 Seminole Road, Suite 102, Muskegon, MI, 49444. The local phone number remains the same at (231) 780-1922.  Space for the new office is being provided at a reduced rate by Lighthouse Title, Inc., to help support the work of the Alzheimer’s Association.

“We so appreciate the generous support of Lighthouse Title and their President Bob Wuerfel,” said Barb Betts, education and care services coordinator, Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter. “With the opportunity to reduce our costs, we are improving our location and accessibility and increasing our resources in ways that will better serve local families affected by Alzheimer’s disease.  Our new location offers fresh and more spacious office areas as well as improved parking for those accessing our programs and services.  We invite and encourage area residents to visit our new office to learn more about the education, care consultation, and support services we offer.”

The Alzheimer’s Association, Michigan Great Lakes Chapter serves a 23-county region of Michigan that includes Lake, Muskegon, Mason, Newaygo and Oceana counties.  The Chapter provides education programs and support services for individuals and families throughout the region who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. Last year, chapter staff and volunteers served nearly 15,000 people through the organization’s 24/7 toll-free Helpline, education and training programs, support groups, care consultations, and the national Safe Return program.

On Saturday, April 19, 2008, the Alzheimer’s Association will host an Understanding Alzheimer’s program from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Seminole Shores Living Center, 850 Seminole, in Muskegon.  The program provides an introduction to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and includes information on possible signs of Alzheimer’s disease, how Alzheimer’s disease is diagnosed, the effects of Alzheimer’s on the brain and how to gain access to community resources and chapter services.  The program is free; advance registration is required.  To register, call (231) 780-1922 or visit www.alz.org/mglc

For information and support anytime of the day or night, call the Association’s toll-free Helpline at (800) 272-3900 or visit www.alz.org
