We offer educational programs for families and individuals facing Alzheimer’s as well as community members. Most of these programs are free of charge, but a donation of $10 per person (or family) per session is appreciated.  Advance registration is required.  Please call 800.272.3900 to register (unless otherwise noted on the regional calendar).  Programs with less than 5 registrants are subject to cancellation.

Program Descriptions
:

E-Learning Courses: If you are not able or available to attend a local community education program, you can participate at your convenience in an online E-Learning course training any time.

  • Know the 10 Signs -  If you or someone you know is experiencing memory loss or behavioral changes, it’s time to learn the facts. Early detection of Alzheimer’s gives you a chance to begin drug therapy, enroll in clinical studies and plan for the future. This interactive workshop features video clips of people with Alzheimer’s.  
  • Memory Loss, Dementia, and Alzheimer's Disease:  The Basics - This program is designed to provide you with the basic information that everyone needs to know about memory loss issues and what they mean for all of us.  
  • Living with Alzheimer’s:  For Caregivers (3–Part Series) - When someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, friends and family have many questions. What does the diagnosis mean? What kinds of plans need to be made? What resources are available to help? As the disease progresses, new questions reflects growing needs for skills, programs and services. Join us for this series of programs that provide answers to the questions that arise in the early, middle and late stages of the disease. Hear from those directly affected and learn what you need to know, what you need to plan, and what you can do at each point along the way.
  • Living with Alzheimer’s: For People with Alzheimer’s (3–Part Series) - The diagnosis of Alzheimer's is life-changing and leads to many questions. What does this mean for me and my family? How do I plan for the future? Where can I get the help I need? This program is an interactive three-part program where you will have a chance to hear from others who have been where you are. We will discuss what you need to know, what you need to plan, and what you can do to navigate this chapter of your life. This program will cover information for people with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's or a related dementia who are in the early stage of the disease.
  • Kids and Teens Online Videos - Kids and teens can learn about the disease and how they can cope with it:  Kids Looking at Alzheimer's and Teens Looking at Alzheimer's.
  • Legal and Financial Planning for the Future - A diagnosis of Alzheimer's can change plans that families have for the future.  This program will cover important legal and financial information to consider as the disease progresses and plans are made for the future. Participants will learn more about what legal and financial issues to consider and how to put plans in place.  
  • Advances in Alzheimer's Research (an annual events held each November) -  This program brings you the latest news from the research front and highlights the progress scientists are making toward finding better treatments, and eventually a cure, for Alzheimer’s.

     
    PARTNER PROGRAMS:
  • HBO The Alzheimer's Project - This series takes a look at the faces behind the disease - and the forces leading us to find a cure. This multi-platform series reveals groundbreaking Alzheimer discoveries and the effects this debilitating and fatal disease has on those with Alzheimer's and their families.  Watch the online videos...
  • Creating Confident Caregivers - This is an exciting program in Michigan for family caregivers of persons with dementia/memory loss. Using the Savvy Caregiver program, Creating Confident Caregivers is a six-session program led by trained dementia specialists. This university tested program provides participants with information, skills and attitudes to manage stress and increase their effectiveness. As part of a federally funded program, there is no charge to participants for class or materials; respite care for your family member can be provided free of charge while you attend.  Find a program near you...
