Special Keynote Speaker: Chris Nowinski

Chris Nowinski, author of the critically acclaimed book Head Games: Football’s Concussion Crisis, is widely credited with putting the concussion issue on the map. A tireless advocate, educator, and researcher, concussions stole his career but gave him a calling. Mr. Nowinski is the co-founder and president of the Sports Legacy Institute (SLI), a non-profit organization dedicated to solve the sports concussion crisis, and serves as a co-director of the Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy (CSTE) at Boston University School of Medicine. He also serves on the National Football League Players Association Mackey/White TBI Research Committee and on the board of directors of the Brain Injury Association of America. Special Musical Performance: Kathy Romey, Artistic Director of the Minnesota Chorale, will conduct a special choral performance at the 2011 Gala, accompanied by pianist Bryce Hayes. The choir will perform one or two selections at the Gala.
