Dr. Carlew is a licensed clinical psychologist with specialty training in clinical neuropsychology. She is currently the Clinic Director of the Neurocognitive Specialty Group Mississippi Office. Her presentation will discuss the signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s, various types of dementia and best practices for evaluation and treatment.

Mary Nicholas works at the McClean Fletcher Center and is a full-time professor of social work at Mississippi College. She is a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist. Her presentation will discuss types of grief with emphasis on anticipatory grief and self care tips for caregivers and self care through the grieving process.

10:45-11:45 | Join the Journey: Using a Positive Approach to Care for those living with Dementia
Lindsey is a Certified Positive Approach to Care Trainer and Coach. The Positive Approach to Care is a trademark of Teepa Snow, Occupational Therapist turned Dementia expert, educator and coach. Her presentation will engage learners in how to apply the Positive Approach to Care in everyday situations.

Paulita is the director of heathy aging at the Mississippi Department of Health. Paulita holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of Mississippi. Paulita will share about the CDC's BOLD program and how it has shaped public health in Mississippi as well as social determinants of health and health care related disparities.
